Sri Soumitra Chatterjee Launches The Thriller THE JOB CHARNOCK RIDDLE by Victor Ghoshe

Victor Ghoshe's Novel: The Job Charnock Riddle A Historical Thriller: Launched by Dadasaheb Phalke award winning veteran actor Sri Soumitra Chatterjee This new thriller THE JOB CHARNOCK RIDDLE is part fact, pact fiction that dwells in both the past and present times, trying to bridge a gap between the two. Also present in the launch ceremony were film maker Anik Dutta, actor-elocutionist Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee and singer Lagnajita Chakraborty.

Soumitra Chatterjee, who had acted in a movie as Job Charnock (the famous senior officer of the East India Company) said, "We are evidently aware of Job Charnock, who he was and the role he played in the expansion of the British Empire in India." Chatterjee also regaled the audience with a spooky story based on a real incident. He recalled the day he worked at the All India Radio and how he had once met a ghost, who wore traditional costume resembling the Victorian era. "I still don't know if ghosts exist, but I am scared of them," said the Dada Saheb Phalke awardee.

Speaking about the subject of his book, Victor Ghoshe said, "I was reading a research work on old Kolkata in 2010, when it caught my attention that the treasury of Shayesta Khan was looted. It is well documented. Then cut a few years later, Job Charnock emerged as a very powerful man. I was intrigued as to what happened in between, why isn’t there any information on it. So I decided to write a plot around it."

Ghoshe also spoke about a second story line in the book which is equally strong and about codes, deciphers and religious relics. He added that working as a communication specialist has shaped him into what he has become today. "Every author learns from his job. People add value to your life, we learn from each of them a lot." When asked if books in the form of paper will sustain in the near future, he said, "This charm has to stay on, at least for the next 100 years." The evening was not void of drama either, as popular Bengali film director Anik Dutta took up the microphone and asked Ghoshe not to commit to too many people as he is likely to make a movie out of it.

For this cover design I have visited the seventeenth Century St John's Church in the old part of Kolkata and shot this praying angel. The shot of the stained glass and the angel was taken by a Cannon E series (manual) camera. I also am happy to share the back cover blurb of my thriller.

The Green Series by Victor Ghoshe

To add some colours to my life along with my 9 to 6 job I decided to paint through my Sundays . And somehow this unique idea stroke my mind hard that if I need to create something really interesting I might need to start from the dust-bin to create my new series. I was lucky. Some weeks later, one late evening sitting in my office I found what I was destined to find.... One of our office attendants, threw a bunch of used, crumpled envelops in the dustbin after clearing a certain table..... I lazily looked at the disgust on his face and had compassion on the stuff he threw..... in a moment I could see a vision in my mind.... For all of us – envelops are so important till the moment they deliver a document... but the next moment they have no value for us.... they suddenly become useless – they become garbage. My mind raced.... Is it possible to give them a new life... ? Is it possible to give them a life of honour....? Is it possible to help them help us...once again.........? Many Sundays and several months of relentless struggle-with-time later... I could create a repository.... A responsible, thoughtful and an honest repository for the human passion for being creative. May I present... The Green Series …
